AEP has launched a new design for its corporate website, AEP.com.
AEP.com has been completely rebuilt using responsive design, a relatively new technique that allows our web pages to sense the size of the device an individual is using to view each page, and adapt itself to display properly on that device. This allows us to do a better job of serving the increasing number of users who come to our site with a tablet or smartphone.
AEP becomes one of a very few Fortune 500 companies to update its corporate website to a responsive design.
We’ve decided to present the same information to all of our users, regardless of the device used, because a large and growing number of Americans are using mobile devices as their primary way to access websites like ours. This trend is expected to accelerate in the future.
The new site design has been extensively tested with customers and other users to ensure it is simple and easy to navigate. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with our testers praising the attractive appearance and intuitive operation of the site.
The project to rebuild AEP.com began more than a year ago. Designing and developing the new site has taken much of this year, and testing has taken place throughout the process. All the work was completed using company resources.
AEP’s corporate website began as a single page back in 1995, and since then has gone through six major rebuilds, including the current version, which updates a version launched in 2008.
With this newest version, we believe we have created an attractive place for people to learn about AEP, and a site where important information about the company can be easily accessed. We encourage employees to take a look, and we welcome your comments.
