2012 Oglebay mini-vacation contest underway

by on December 6, 2011

WHEELING, W.Va.— In its 17th year, the annual Oglebay Park mini-vacation giveaway is again being made available to all active and retired AEP employees through the kindheartedness of Joan and Lee Kelvington, retired Ohio Power T&D director.

Oglebay's attractions include the Winter Festival of Lights (top) and its seasonal gardens (bottom).

“Oglebay is one of the most beautiful recreational areas we have ever experienced, and it gives us great pleasure to sponsor the mini-vacation contest each year,” said Kelvington. “We always look forward to meeting the lucky winners and affording them the opportunity to encounter the splendor of such a fabulous resort.”

Oglebay is a wonderful escape from day-to-day activities. It encompasses 1,700 acres of recreational countryside nestled in the hills of Wheeling. Visitors can enjoy championship golf courses, miles of paved walking/jogging trails, seasonal gardens, museums, shopping, spa, zoo and planetarium, a hands-on Discovery Lab, a state-of-the-art environmental center and, the park’s prize jewel, the Winter Festival of Lights.

The Festival is Oglebay’s most popular activity and one of America’s largest holiday light shows with a million lights set in grand displays that are part of a six-mile car tour covering 300 acres.

The getaway package includes three days and two nights deluxe lodging for two, breakfast for two each morning and an evening’s dinner for two at Oglebay’s fine dining facility, as well as daily admission passes for park activities such as boating, fishing, miniature golf, tennis and swimming.

Given availability of park accommodations, the lucky individual will have a full year from which he/she can schedule this exciting mini-vacation.

All contest entries must be submitted electronically at http://www.aep.com/employees/oglebay/.
