Breed Power Plant

by on November 30, 2010

The caption for this photograph in our corporate archive reads: “Breed Power Plant, Indiana.”

The Breed Plant was the first large commercial generating unit built in the United States with supercritical pressure and double-reheat steam conditions. The late Richard Breed, an Indiana native, was a founder and early president (1910-23) and chairman (1923-26) of American Electric Power Company.
